Butler Basketball

The Butler Bulldogs are turning out to be a great basketball team this year. Not only are they ranked # 14 and #15 in the national polls, they have held onto, or stayed close to the # 1 RPI spot for most of the season.

At 10-0 and with Purdue University their most challenging team remaining on the schedule, it'll be interesting to see where they go from here. Barring a huge collapse, I believe they will make the national tournament in March, even if they somehow do not win their conference tournament. Right now the ESPN Power 16 puts the Bulldogs at a three seed.

If you're curious about how Butler got to be so good, dig back a little and look at the school's history and tradition. Check out this three part series I did while attending the school.

The first article dealt with Tony Hinkle, the father of Butler athletics.

The second looked at how Butler coaches were continuing the Hinkle legacy.

And the third piece dealt with how Hinkle's system is still used by the current coach Todd Lickliter.

Enjoy.
